Uge 59 – One of the best experiences in Esbjerg, that didn’t even happen in Esbjerg!

God dag kære søskende!

Well. honestly. It’s one of those weeks where I can’t remember half of anything that happened….so maybe it will come as I continue typing! That would be really helpful!!

Oh yeah! We had the meeting in Copenhagen! :D

That does not feel like it was just a few days ago….at all. I feel like SO much has happened since then! It’s insane!
But the meeting was wonderful :D I was/am SO grateful for it! I learned SO stinking much! I didn’t realize how much I have just been trying to go go go go and do EVERYTHING the Lord was asking me, without even thinking about the fact that part of everything He has asked me to do is stop and enjoy what’s going on around me. Ha. Funny how we can get so caught up in everything that is going on that we (or I) forget one of the Lords biggest commandments and purposes for us – to simply be happy and have joy. I keep thinking that ok, yeah, I’ve gotten to a point where I understand what this Whole mission thing is about…and then Things like Wednesday happen and I realize how completely out in left field I have been! I Wonder if that one will ever change…or if it’ll just always be like that my Whole life. Ha. If I know myself right then it’ll probably be the latter. But that’s ok! It Means I’m learning, right?
It was incredible to be back with everyone and to see just how much has changed, and how all at the same time, absolutely nothing has changed! It was just great :)

And I think something else rather major that I learned is this – Heavenly Father knows me. Ha. Kinda crazy that I’m just now learning that one, right? But here’s the epiphany. Heavenly Father called me on a mission. He knows my weakness, and insecurities and inabilites. Just as He knows my abilities and strengths. He knew those things when He told me almost 2 years ago now that I needed to go on a mission. And He knew that about 1 1/2 years ago when He, through His living Prophets and Apostles called me to serve in Denmark. He didn’t just send out a big sign up sheet and say hey! I need people in Denmark! No. He called me, Brittany Ann Rigby to serve Him in Denmark, to be Sister Brittany Ann Rigby. I’m not just some random person, just a body to fill a spot. I’m not just another missionary. That’s not what it said in my call packet! It said, Sister Brittany Ann Rigby. Which Means, that He called me, weaknesses, insecurities, inabilities, strengths and abilites and all! And just as He uses my strenths to help others, so does He also use my weaknesses. He called all of me, not just a part of me. And for that I am grateful! I love knowing that Heavenly Father loves us SO much that He uses all of us, and loves us because of who we are now, and what we can offer now. Not for anything else! And so, if we just give all that we can, He will make it all Work! I know that! He’s done that so far on my mission, and I know that He will continue to do that! And not just on my mission, but throughout my Whole life!

Kristina is doing wonderfully :) she is sooo overwhelmed with so much right now! She knows it’s true, and she is just so excited to be baptized, just overwhelmed! Satan is really working hard on her. It’s really annoying! He just needs to go away!

And kind of a crazy Little moment. Our sweet Danish teacher Birgitte invited us out to lunch at her house and then we were going to help her with some lawn stuff and then have a Danish lesson. YES! Her husband and 2 kids are not members, so that was a way good in! Well, we get there and only one of the sons is there. But that’s ok, we made friends with him! Hopefully he’ll come play soccer with us on saturday. But then Birgitte was like hey! It’s good weather today. Lets go Down to Ribe and I’ll show you around and we can go see the big cathedral that’s Down there and have our Danish lesson as we’re going around town. Sweet! Well, Heavenly Father knows His missionaries a Little too well. Because after we hike back Down the cathedral, we hear MISSIONARIES! Awesome. Love that sound! It was this couple, who are not members who have been traveling Denmark for the last 2 weeks searching for ancestors and their homes and grave sites to do Family history Work and have been searching for missionaries EVERYWHERE but have not been able to find any! His grandfather converted over here and moved over to Zion and was then called on a mission here! They have Pictures of the Aalborg mission in 1909…not even kidding! They love the church and what we stand for, they have nieces and nephews on missions (one of which is in St Louis). They love the church and everything we do, and always look for the missionaries. Well, they found us. In a Little old town called Ribe, a 30 minute train ride outside of Esbjerg, a town that none of us had ever been to, and may never be back to. But, Heavenly Father made sure we were in the right place at the right time. I just love Him!

And yesterday was a translating….adventure! Ha. Sønder Jysk is really hard. Especially when the people are old. And are crying. Ha. I think everyone got a very different lesson during all of church than what was really being said! Oh well. Guided by the Spirit, right? Gift of tongues anyone?

The week has been wonderful and I am thoroughly exhausted! But I guess that’s the way it’s supposed to be, right? It was fun to look at the Pictures from wednesday and compare them to Pictures from the MTC. We’ve all grown a bit, especially with the bags around the eye….that are probably permnant at this point :)
Mange Kærlighed,
Søster Rigby
